PTO and other crap

Our middle school PTO is holding a silent auction next month and we have some really cool, motivated people out soliciting crap to make baskets for the auction which has always been a great success and source of income for our PTO. This year, they asked for help from the rest of the board (although really two of them have done 90% of the work) to go out and get more donations and help with the baskets.

In helping to do this, I've come to realize that I HATE doing this crap. Today, I went in to the Scottsdale Gun Club to solicit free shit, only to be blocked by a marketing manager who was out skydiving instead of doing her job and being there when I need her. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge anyone checking something off their bucket list (I've been skydiving and it's way cool so I get it) but dammit I needed her there today! I also went into the Scottsdale Cigar Club (ok, what is it with Scottsdale naming all their crap "blank" club??) where I actually did get free stuff in the form of a verbal commitment but no actual items... yet. And, my hair now smells nasty. I have a friend (yes, YOU Dennis) who got the cool stuff and is drinking free beer all around town for a beer basket. I get the Man Day basket with wine, guns, and cigars?? Wth??

I'm hoping this turns out well in the end. I need a kick ass basket.

If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive, and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.
Vince Lombardi

Some days, it's all I can do to post a quote, other days I have more to say. Today is a quote kind of day but you can't beat the words of one of the best coaches of all time.

Believe, courage, determination, dedication, competitiveness, willingness, sacrifice - all words of the day.

Update on... well, life

Starting weight: 162 (01/2011)
9//15/11: 154.0
02/01/12: 149.5
3/13/12: 144.8

Yea!! Progress, any progress at all, is a good thing.

Ran a 5k for Ryan House a couple of weekends ago. Nate ran with me which was fun. Correction: Nate ran the race too but I only saw him at the start and finish. He was gone. :) I ran with Dana who, bless her heart, runs slow enough that I was able to keep up. Yes, I may be able to run 13.1 miles but I'm a slow runner; I will never be competing or winning any timed races. And, I'm ok with that.

I am swamped with PTO stuff and the procrastination is killing me. I feel like I"m letting down my other board members and that really isn't my intention but damn I hate some of this stuff. It's times like this when I really wish I drank caffeine so I could just bust out a few hours of work, uninterrupted, driven by the caffeine and the motivation to finish and then still have enough to clean my house. And put away the laundry that has been sitting in my family room for over a week now. (Sorry Brian!)

I'm still training with Julie for the half marathon in San Diego on June 3rd. I'm really looking forward to it because not only am I running my second half marathon (and I never thought I would/could ever run one!) but it's a road trip for Julie and I AND it's Anngee's 40th birthday so we will get to celebrate that too. Plus, hello? It's San Diego! It's gorgeous there (please weather gods, let the weather be nice that 1st weekend in June.)

I know there's more I wanted to say but since going to the dentist and having my mouth numbed (to replace all those old metal fillings) I can no longer think clearly. I think I need to go get a Starbucks; that will make me feel better. ;)
