4 weeks until the big four-oh... Not exactly where I planned to be health-wise, family life, etc but I don't have any major diseases or sicknesses, my family is healthy even if we're not all living in the same house full-time, and I still have the honor (and hard-working husband) to be a stay at home mother. So, all in all, life is good. Let's see what changes can be made over the next 28 days....

Ok, ok, I know, I've been a bad blogger of late. Things have gotten really busy/crazy but to be honest, nothing too exciting has really happened either - well, except a couple of things. Here's one highlight:

On Saturday night (5/21/11) Brian and I had a date night and went to the roller derby (AZ Derby Dames) with the Alonso's and Burnhams. What?, you might ask... roller derby? But of course! What a blast!! We had so much fun. It's not quite as violent as it used to be (all sports now it seems) but still saw lots of action, bumping, a few whips - all part of derby fun. There are more penalties handed out in this game that all of the hockey playoffs!! Game 1 was the Brutal Beauties vs Coffin Draggers. We, of course, chose the BB with Deja Deja Vu because they were in pink and gave out little pink crowns (more on that to come...) but the CD had a secret weapon in Satan's Little Helper who was just damn fast! Kinda ended up with a girl crush on her. :)

So, after the BB introduced their players, they all tossed out little pink crowns. I, unfortunately, didn't get one and Brian wasn't fast enough to get me one either. Later, when I was in the bathroom, I mentioned to Dana that I was bummed because I didn't get one and I hear from one of the stalls, "You can have mine when I get out of the bathroom!" Turns out she was the wife of one of the players (Sin D'Launcher) so she could get one whenever she wanted. I said thank you very much and took it! We then had a great conversation about how many rookies were playing that night (which is why the BB lost by so many points) and how hard these ladies work at their sport.

The second game featured Runaway Brides vs Schoolyard Scrappers, whose logo we love, so we had to go with them. Of course, they were the losing team, lol!

All in all it was a fabulous evening full of great fun, wonderful company, good beer (Four Peaks Brewery before derby), and a new love for hard-working, strong, fabulous derby girls! (You can find them on Facebook, too) :)
