Today I ran...

I have felt pretty crappy for a couple of weeks now and my half marathon training schedule has been all kinds of screwed up. Too many days of shortened runs, missed runs, and very slow runs have culminated in me finally saying screw it, today I am going to run even if it kills me. I had every intention of going right after the kids left at 7am that way it would still be fairly cool out and I could still fit in a massage or facial (lots of pre-paids at Massage Envy waiting for me!) before doing the rest of the things on my to do list.

Needless to say, at around 10:00 am I finally forced myself out the door. I now remember why I drag my tired ass out of bed at 4 am to meet Julie to run at 5am. Holy shit, it's hot out! I used to think 80* was perfect... not when you are running it's not. It's hot, sweat drips and pools in every part of my body, and it takes a lot more effort to run during daylight hours. There's sunscreen to apply, can't forget the sunglasses, hat, and since I ran alone I had to grab my headphones - dear god, I had more contraptions going on than Inspector Gadget!

But it's done and (my favorite saying...) I didn't die and I didn't quit. My time wasn't all that bad either considering I've taken about a week off so today I feel good.

~ with much love, always

If you are a runner, it doesn't matter how far or how fast. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.  -- John Bingham
